It builds strength. If done regularly, strength training builds bone density and muscle which helps to preserve strength, independence, and energy. Strength training exercises can also reduce depression and boost self-confidence and self- esteem and improve your sense of well-being.
It aids mental stimulation. We rotate routines periodically which helps to learn new patterns and help coordination.

Improves the mobility of joints. Gentle, complete movement of all joints with particular attention to hands, wrists, feet and ankles, to overcome stiffness and poor circulation; trunk- side bending, back extension and rotation; include movements of knee, elbow, shoulder girdle and neck.
It will improve your circulation and respiration.
Most of us will have some condition at some stage in our lives. It is important that this does not hinder our exercise. This is where a specialised class can help. Each of our classes can help with conditions. Some examples of how this exercise can help:
Good, well-fitting comfortable shoes are essential for any exercise to help with support and posture – the sole should be rubber in nature but not too thick as thick soles may cause you to trip.
Comfortable clothing – wear loose, cool clothes that breathe well during exercise and which allows a full range of movement.
If you have any specific condition such as a heart condition, chest pain or dizziness, ensure that you speak with your doctor prior to joining the class.
As an independent instructor who specialises in exercise for the over 60’s, classes are delivered by me, Carmen Scott!
There is no joining fee, simply a flat rate of £5 per person per class in existing locations.
If you would like to start a Carmen’s Fitness class in your town or village, please do get in touch.
A bottle of water but this is always available in each class for a small charge of 50p.
And a warm smile!
